GRIEVING FOR YOUR PET

One of the most devastating events that can happen to anyone is the loss of a pet. Know that you will go through the classic stages of grief when the loss strikes.

Shock   Sometimes shock is so severe you won't be able to dial a phone or start a car.

Anger  You will be angry, mad at anyone including loved ones, vets. co-workers and even your boss.

Depression  Loss of appetite, fatigue, feeling like you don't want to do anything, sadness are common signs of depression after pet loss.

Ways to honor your departed friend

Write a letter to your pet.  Talk about all the good times you had together and the ways they helped you. You can even send it to letters@overtherainbowbridge.com

Make a memorial. A place in the yard or a place on your mantel. Toys, pictures, collars all make nice collections of your memories.

Light a candle.  On Monday evenings all over the world people light candles at 8:00 pm to honor their pets.

Spend time with other animals.  Go visit animals in shelters and talk to the animals about your pet. Nothing like a wet lick on the face to help you remember the spirit of your companion.

Join a pet loss therapy group. Talk about your pet with others who have also lost an animal they love.
